Greetings from the Pound family at Sonshine Lake Farm! I hope you are enjoying the wonderful weather this summer. We have beef! We have had a great growing season here with plenty of rain that made our pastures lush and green which has resulted in healthy, well-filled-out cattle. Last week we had 2 nice size steers butchered. Those steers should be ready to be picked up by the end of next week!
Just a reminder, our steers are raised on ONLY natural, untreated native grasses and some native grass hay when needed. Our animals are organically grown, but we are not ‘certified’ organic. Not only are they 100% grass-fed, they are not finished on any grain at all. This keeps the Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratio more balanced than grain finished meat. The higher Omega 6 & lower Omega 3 in foods such as grain fed cattle is one of the sources of disease causing inflammation in humans. If you would like more information on the health benefits of grass-fed beef, please let me know.
We are taking orders immediately from our customers who prefer larger quantities of meat at more wholesale prices. So, if you would like a quarter, half, or whole steer, please let us know right away. These quarters will vary in weight and we won’t know the exact weight until they are cut and packaged, but should weigh about 100 lbs. each. We are charging $7.00 per pound finished weight. Each quarter will contain ground beef, various cuts of roast and steaks. A quarter of beef takes up approximately 4 cubic feet of freezer space.
To reserve your share of beef, there is a deposit to be paid in advance.
The reservation fees are non-refundable.
This non-refundable deposit is then applied to the total cost of your beef and the balance is due at time of pick-up.
Deposits are $100 for a quarter of a beef, $150 for a half a beef, and $250 for a whole beef.
Blessings!
